During my 20 odd years as a working medium i hear so many parents describe how their children see spirit.  Is this mediumship? Is their pathway to train as mediums as they get older? Physically seeing a spirit as solid and real as you would see your own reflection when looking in the mirror (objective) is different to seeing a spirit as if you were imagining it in the mind’s eye (subjective). There are cases when people see spirit beings in solid real life form. In the majority of cases these spirit people are family members or people who once lived in the house where they were living. On rare occasions when the conditions are just right objective clairvoyance is experienced amongst young children although many adults do have this experience often when they are least expecting it.

Whatever the scenario the common denominator seems to be that people see spirit objectively when they are least expecting to and always there is a bit of a shock factor involved! It is often when they are tired or relaxed when the thinking mind is able to get out of the way and let in the ‘feeling’ aspects of mentality. This phenomenon is called ‘spontaneous clairvoyance.’

Spontaneous clairaudience is more common where we have all experienced hearing a voice or someone calling our name especially when falling to sleep or in the stages of waking up. Not surprisingly this generally does not alarm us as much as seeing a spirit physically standing there! As a child I used to experience spontaneous clairsentience where spirits would tap me on the back while lying in bed. I remember clutching up in a ball of fear unable to turn over to see who was there and the only solace was to pull the bedclothes tight over my head!
Whilst the 3 ‘C’s (clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience) all denote aspects of mediumship, we must ask the question “is ‘spontaneous clairvoyance’ in children or older adults who have no calling towards being a medium indicative that they are a medium or should become a medium?”

Spontaneous clairvoyance, clairaudience or clairsentience is not necessarily mediumship per se because it does not always imply that there is a control or guide working with the individual. Mediumship is about helping others through the direct intervention of the spirit world. Spirits that show themselves randomly through spontaneous clairvoyance are not necessarily part of this plan because their visit has not been organized by a spirit control or guide. Much of the preparation of a medium takes place the night or week before entirely through the hard work of the spirit controls or guides as they are commonly known. Spirit are aware of people who will come to visit the medium the next day for a private reading or during a public demonstration so they form an organizational network and reach out to those spirits whom wish to connect with their loved ones through the mental faculties of the medium.

It can be clearly seen that an individual chooses the pathway of mediumship before birth where the control guides are well known to that individual. He or she will have spent a long time preparing for the journey of mediumship in the spirit world before they were born into this earthly incarnation. There are temples and schools where this is learned in the vast astral plains.

Mediums also practice in the spirit world before they are born on the earth plains by sometimes engaging on rescue missions deep within the dark lower astral regions where tormented souls reside. Here the medium, accompanied by a party of experienced astral dwellers, may talk to the earthbound spirit and use clairvoyance to describe aspects of their life where they may have erred and engaged in acts of gross selfishness or negativity. As soon as the earthbound spirit feels one tear of remorse they are then able to open their hearts and head for the light. After all it is only a spirit’s ignorance to accept personal responsibility for deeds done on earth which keep them Earthbound and prevent their swift progression into the astral world.

Mediumship is normally evidenced during the early years of childhood and normally spirit will find a way of working with the individual no later than their mid to late thirties. Any older than this and the psychic energy of the body becomes weakened due to age progression and development becomes cumbersome. It must be remembered that if a person has spent a whole lifetime training for this in the spirit world before they were born then this consciousness would be more likely to come to the fore in their twenties or thirties so that they could develop quicker and help more people during their life. There is not a single moment to waste during earth life!
If a child who has experienced spontaneous clairvoyance begins to show an interest in mediumship in their teenage years then it could well be the case that they have a control (guide) with them who has specifically trained in mediumship. Again as this child grows into a young adult into their early twenties and they show a sincere desire to help others and bring healing into the world this would be another sign that their control is there to assist them to develop mediumship. These gifted children need gently encouraging if they feel it is their calling. An international school for their training with experienced tutor mediums that will keep them grounded and nurture their abilities is of the quintessence. Without the proper training it is so easy to lose mediumistic ability and to travel down the psychic pathway of wanting fame and commercial success.

At the end of the day mediums are born and not made. Anybody can teach themselves to read music and play a nice piece on the piano but only those who can play from ear are musicians. Spontaneous clairvoyance may indicate a great ability later on in life and it is not until those control guides appear that the young adult is blessed with the recognition from the spirit world that they have the awareness and sensitivity to do this very valuable work.
