How do you define a psychic and how does it all work?

Psychic derives from the Greek word 'psyche' translated as 'soul sensitivity.'

A psychic is a person who uses his powers of soul sensitivity (psychic beam) to interpret the waves of vibrations, thoughts and feelings radiated into his mind by people, atmospheres, or objects in the material world.

Unconsciously, or with conscious intent, a psychic directs the psychic beam directly ahead into the client's aura. Information is then drawn back into the centre of the body where the energy is processed on a feeling level (psychic clairsentience). Clairsentience or clear-feeling on this psychic level may inform the reader as to the following aspects regarding the client: energy level; state of health- chakras/muscular-skeletal; feelings/exact details concerning specific life situations – jobs, house, or family. Psychic energy freed from the continuum of time/ space may describe all these conditions as past, present or as to manifest in the future. Once this clairsentient psychic energy beam is processed in the centre of the body it may travel upwards into the brain where it is sent as energy waves to the third eye (psychic clairvoyance) or the throat (psychic clairaudience). Typically, during such an energy manifestation, the psychic may see a picture and accurately describe something around the client – i.e. colour of a partners eyes, hair/ make and model of a car/ description of a boat/ layout of a house/description of a holiday location. There are infinite possibilities. Alternatively, energy drawn around the ears through the throat charka may reveal a name of someone close to the client or even a town name.

Information processed on a psychic level may greatly impress the message recipient and it is very easy for the reader to claim that it is all directly channeled direct from the spirit world. Every reader has a different frequency or strength of psychic beam either because of energy levels at that specific point of time or innate ability. Although guides may be around the reader, this process is not mediumistic and does not require the spirit world to be operational.

Proof that this information is not related to the spirit world may come through simple psychometry exercises i.e. holding a piece of jewelry can reveal a wealth of information about the owner. All aspects of health, development of spirituality as connected to the aura and feelings relating to work, relationships, career etc…can be interpreted at this psychic clairsentient level.

Psychic clairvoyance is evidenced while choosing and accurately predicting the symbol of one card out of a number i.e. six which are all face down. Remote viewing, which was extensively used by American spies in the Cold War uses a similar system where the psychic energy beam is directed to a location on the other side of the world before being drawn back to the centre of the body as feelings that rise to the brain as energy waves and then simultaneously interpreted as pictures in the third eye. Names relating to this location that are not clairvoyantly seen but interpreted as a sound in the ears illustrate the operation of psychic clairaudience.

Telepathy is another example where the psychic beam is transmitted at will between two people. There are numerous examples that we can see at work in daily life – psychic energy is literally all around us!!!

Although a strong psychic may make it sound all very impressive and claim to be a medium channeling this information from the astral spirit world (or even from a higher plane as is often the case!!) the operation of psychic phenomena has nothing to do with spirit guides or contact.

How do you define a medium and how does it all work?

A spirit medium uses his/her powers of soul sensitivity (psychic beam) to interpret the waves of vibrations, thoughts and feelings radiated into his/her mind by a discarnate entity or person in the spirit world. A spirit medium focuses the psychic beam to the side or behind the body into the aura of the spirit person who is attempting to communicate; this differs from the psychic who focuses the psychic beam straight ahead into the client's aura. If a spirit medium is reading in a circle and stands up it is often easier if the psychic beam is focused upwards into the sky.

Initially, the essence of all mediumistic communication occurs through clairsentience or blending. As the psychic beam or energy wave is extended to spirit and then returns with sensations into the centre of the mediums body (solar plexus/ heart area) information begins to tell a story about the spirit person. Communication at this level may be unconscious between the medium and spirit person i.e. the medium is simply feeling or psychometrising the aura of the spirit and there is no mind to mind contact. Gradually the medium begins to blend with the personality of the spirit being and can describe the character/personality including the type of work they did and conditions affecting the health before they died. As this blending or overshadowing grows, the medium often becomes more animated and may talk quicker as more and more feelings are transferred from the aura of the spirit person via the psychic beam. Energy moves up the centre of the body and may be interpreted through brain waves as pictures (spirit clairvoyance) or sounds (spirit clairaudience). At this stage a picture of the spirit person may be seen to validate their profile or a picture may be transmitted to give further detailed information: a jar of vics vapour rub to give the name 'Vic'; a windmill to convey the name of Windmill Street; a piece of copper metal to convey that the spirit person used to work as a policeman. The list is endless and, although spirit clairaudience is a much more straightforward way of receiving information, the transmission of pictures/symbology to reinforce sounds that the medium is not able to receive proves that there is an intelligent design behind all communication. Any medium touched by this will testify that spirits are not unconscious shells in the astral but indeed living entities who retain much of their colourful personalities in the here after.

Naturally a medium's ability to receive information and blend with a spirit person depends not only on the strength of their psychic beam but more importantly on their intent to give spirit a voice and to be a spokesperson for the 'other side.' If that intent is not very strong, then people who are mediumistic will prefer to spend a little time blending with spirit, bringing forth a few sketchy details before re-directing their psychic beam back into the aura of the sitter and working on the psychic level. While people love to hear from relatives in spirit it is only human to want information about oneself as well!!!

The difference between a developed medium and someone who is highly mediumistic is that the medium can spend prolonged periods of time (more than a few minutes) bringing in concrete details of the spirit person i.e. work, hobbies, pets, town name, memories while on earth, exact passing/birth dates, relationship references to people alive or in spirit. The mediumistic worker will bring in a few valid details but will generally move away quicker into the life of the person having the reading (the sitter). The degree of blending with spirit will be less together with an ability to bring in highly specific details.

Developing as a medium is often a lifetime's work!!
